Why is it worth visiting Zakopane?

Zakopane. One of the most beautiful Polish cities and one of the most popular mountain resorts in Central and Eastern Europe. Why? What makes it so special and what makes tourists so eager to visit the capital of the Polish Tatra Mountains?

 

There are many answers. First of all, nature guarantees a unique experience. The diverse fauna and flora of the region guarantees breathtaking landscapes, unforgettable views, but also perfectly complements the atmosphere that surrounds Zakopane. Secondly, the extremely rich culture and tradition, historic architecture, highlander music, regional costumes and the traditional lifestyle of the people living there make every tourist visiting the city feel really special. In addition, a number of unusual places of culture, among them The Tatra Museum Dr. Titus Chałubiński, Museum of the Zakopane Style or the Oscypek Museum are very popular among tourists. The popularity of this part of Poland is also affected by a variety of excursion routes. Something for themselves will be found both by lovers of mountain climbing (Kasprowy Wierch, Orla Perć, Granaty), lovers of scenic routes (Dolina Pięciu Stawów, Kalatówki), and families with children (Morskie Oko, Dolina Chochołowska). Each of the routes that the Polish Mountains offer tourists are neat, well described and perfectly prepared for hiking.

 

For people who like to spend time actively, Zakopane has several ski slopes to offer. Among them, slopes for beginners (Nosal, Harenda, Małe Ciche, Witów Ski), slopes for lovers of mountain landscapes (Szymoszkowa Glade, Kotelnica Białczańska) and something for advanced skiers who like skiing at the highest level (Kasprowy Wierch). Most stations have climatic gastronomic points, ski equipment rentals and schools, which can be used by both children and beginners, as well as people who want to improve their technique. When talking about Zakopane, it is impossible not to mention the delicious and unique regional food. It really has a lot of offer. In addition to urban-style restaurants, serving traditional dishes in a modern version, you will find a lots of regional taverns offering a variety of highlander delicacies prepared in the Old Polish style (including delicious highlander cheeses produced in sheep grazing months, from May to the turn of September and October, such as: oscypek , bundz, gołka or korbacz) and highlander liquors.

 

Zakopane is also a rich hotel base and cheap accommodation in a typical mountain climate that perfectly complements any mountain trip. Fireplaces, sheepskins on the seats, wooden elements of equipment and a unique design are just some of the most important features of this area.
